Building a Coastal Highway with Integrated Telecom Infrastructure

Infrastructure development along coastal regions requires a careful balance of engineering precision, environmental awareness, and long-term planning. Arcriald Limited was engaged in the design and construction of a coastal highway corridor in Port Harcourt, with integrated telecom infrastructure for future connectivity needs.

The Challenge

The project faced unstable coastal soils, erosion risks, and complex regulatory requirements. Additionally, the client required the corridor to be future-ready, capable of supporting telecom and utility infrastructure without the need for repeated civil works.

Our Engineering Strategy

Arcriald conducted comprehensive geotechnical surveys to understand soil behavior and coastal conditions. Based on the findings, we designed reinforced road sections, improved drainage systems, and ground stabilization solutions to ensure long-term durability.

Dedicated telecom ducts and access chambers were integrated into the highway design, allowing for seamless fiber deployment in the future. Throughout construction, our team managed regulatory liaison, safety compliance, and community engagement, while also prioritizing local workforce participation.

Project Impact

The highway was delivered within the planned timeline, meeting all safety and performance benchmarks. The integrated duct infrastructure enabled immediate deployment of telecom services, including cellular sites along the corridor. The project created over 100 local jobs during peak construction and included a comprehensive facilities management handover plan.

This project exemplifies Arcriald’s holistic approach—combining civil engineering, telecom foresight, and sustainable execution to deliver infrastructure that serves both present and future needs.

Rob’s IT Firm

Canterbury Environment Company (ITSoft) was a new Local Authority Trading Company formed to manage the multi-million-pound waste collection. As a newly created firm with an important job to do, Canenco wanted to become fully operational quickly. This included their business infrastructure and IT. So when Canenco came to choosing a phone system, a Microsoft Teams Direct Routing calling solution was recommended to achieve a fast.
M any organisations will know Teams as an internal communication and collaboration tool. However, it can easily be configured to make and receive external calls as well. And as both a Microsoft Gold partner and experts in unified communications solutions, Akita was well placed to deliver the solution. As Canenco was starting largely from scratch, all IT hardware was required.
